Verifying your website in Bing Webmaster Tools is quick and straightforward, especially if your site is already verified in Google Search Console. Here’s a simple guide to help you get it done smoothly.
Step 1: Access Bing Webmaster Tools
Go to: https://www.bing.com/webmasters/
Click Sign In and choose your login method. You can sign in with a Microsoft account, Gmail, or Facebook.
If your website is already verified in Google Search Console, it’s best to sign in with the same Google account. This will make the entire process much easier.
Step 2: Add Your Website
Once inside the dashboard, click Add a Site.
You’ll see two options. The easiest method is Import. This allows Bing to automatically verify your site using your existing verification from Google Search Console. With one click, Bing pulls your site data and confirms ownership without any manual steps.
Step 3: Manual Verification (If Needed)
If your site isn’t verified in Google Search Console, choose Add your site manually.
Enter your website URL and continue. Bing will then provide three verification methods:
-
Upload a verification file
Download the provided file and upload it to your website’s root directory via your hosting file manager. Your hosting provider can also assist if needed. -
Add a meta tag
Bing will give you a line of code to place inside your website’s header. -
Add a DNS record
Add the required DNS TXT record through your domain registrar or Cloudflare if your domain is connected there.
After completing one of these methods, click Verify.
Step 4: Access Your Dashboard
Once verification succeeds, you’ll be redirected to the Bing Webmaster Tools interface.
From here, you can:
-
Submit your sitemaps
-
Review performance data
-
Check indexing issues
-
Explore recommendations to improve visibility
If this is the first time your site has ever been connected to Bing Webmaster Tools, it may take a few days for data to populate.
Good luck, and enjoy your improved Bing indexing.
